IPO plans
2025
As of 03/2025, GrubMarket has not disclosed its next steps or whether they might include a public listing. The market today appears just as open to scaled-up startups remaining private and exploring quasi-private-equity arrangements or share buybacks, as it is to seeing them go public through IPOs
2024
GrabMarket is considering going public in the 4Q2025-2026, according to one of its co-founders. To prepare, GrubMarket has made independent board appointments, conducted regular audits and put financial reporting systems in place.
2022
GrubMarket has not publicly communicated an intention to IPO [due to current market conditions], according to Forge 12/2022.
2021
In 11/2021 Bloomberg reported, GrubMarket was interviewing potential underwriters for a 2022 initial public offering. The San Francisco-based startup held talks with Goldman Sachs Group Inc., Morgan Stanley and JPMorgan Chase & Co. about a U.S. listing during the 2H2022 that could value it at $4B or more, said some of the people, who requested anonymity. Terms, including the startup’s valuation, haven’t been finalized and could change based on market conditions.
GrubMarket is “aiming to debut on the public market within the next 11 months or so,” Xu said in a statement disclosing the new funding in 11/2021.
2020
GrubMarket gears up to take its next step, an IPO, TechCrunch reported after Series D round in 10/2020.
"Mike Xu, the founder and CEO, said that the plan remains for the company to go public (he’s talked about it before), but given that it’s not having trouble raising from private markets and is currently growing at 100% over last year, and the IPO market is less certain at the moment, he declined to put an exact timeline on when this might actually happen, although he was clear that this is where his focus is in the near future" (TechCrunch 10/2020).
2018
The plan, Mike Xu said, will be to file with the SEC sometime between the end of 2018 and early 2019, with the IPO taking place in 2H2019.
